For the sixth year, Griffin-based Norcom, Inc., a school supply manufacturer, will be hosting the Education Celebration and the Free Store for Teachers for all Griffin-Spalding County School System teachers.
Hal Rahn, CEO of Norcom, Inc. and creator of the event, said, "The objective is to ease the financial burden on teachers who voluntarily provide supplies to their students and to ensure that needy children have all the tools they need to learn and succeed."
Dr. Curtis Jones, Superintendent of the Griffin-Spalding County School System, said, "School supply lists can often belong, daunting, and expensive. This will not only help our teachers who often spend their own money on school supplies for students, but it will also help the families of economically disadvantaged children. Currently, over 70% of our students come from such families."
For each of the past 5 years, over $250,000 in school supplies have been donated to teachers of the Griffin-Spalding County School System.
