Board of Education Meeting Dates  

The Griffin-Spalding County Board of Education is charged, by law, with the responsibility for the overall operation of all schools in the Griffin-Spalding County School System. It is the purpose of the Board of Education to provide adequate school facilities and personnel to meet the educational needs of Spalding County.

The legal authority of the Board is derived from the State which ultimately controls the organization and operation of the school district and which determines the degree of discretionary power left with the Board and the people of this community for the exercise of local autonomy.

The primary function of the Board is to establish the policies by which the schools are to be administered. The administration of the educational program and the conduction of school business shall be the responsibility of the employed Superintendent of Schools and staff.
