The School & Community Services Department serves our students, staff, and community in several ways.

  • Elementary After School Program - Kids In Action
  • Public Relations for the Griffin-Spalding County School System
  • Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education (mini-grants to teachers and school/business partnerships)
  • Griffin Spalding Education Foundation (grants to schools for innovative instructional projects & teacher scholarships)

Some activities of public relations in the department include:

  • using planned approaches to public relations,
  • managing the website for the Griffin-Spalding County School System,
  • creating multiple communication tools for internal and external use,
  • coordinating "Tour of Schools" events for realtors, government officials, and other interest groups,
  • assisting in coordinating system-wide events,
  • meeting with community interest groups on a regular basis for stakeholder feedback,
  • and producing weekly radio programs on WKEU 1450 and WHIE 1320.

This department hosts internship opportunities.
