The Griffin-Spalding system is one of 57 school districts to receive this distinction in 2006 and is one of the first 100 school systems in the nation to achieve the Quality School System distinction. "Earning District Accreditation as a Quality School System is recognition that our school system embraces the continual improvement process of student learning," said Denise Burrell, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. This achievement recognizes the quality of education afforded the students in Griffin-Spalding through the leadership of the superintendent and governing authority; the dedication and service of the professional staff; and the support of community stakeholders, according to SACS CASI. Founded in 1895, SACS CASI is a voluntary, nongovernmental agency that is an accreditation division of AdvancED, the world's largest accreditation, school improvement, and research agency representing over 23,000 schools in 30 states and 65 countries serving over 15 million students.
